Und so ist die Ballade im Sinne einer »volkstümlichen Bildung« vor allen anderen Gattungen der hohen Literatur in die Schule gekommen. Daß es ihr im 19. Jh. gelang, die Fabel und die Parabel vom ersten Platz zu verdrängen, hat sicher auch damit zu tun, daß die Ballade ganz besonders als nationale Dichtart empfunden wurde.
